Strange, black metal-ish solo project from ye olde San Francisco. Musically, it has many of the elements that one might expect from depressive, post-y black metal - slow tempos, drawn out dissonant and minor chords, sorrowful melodies, raspy howls, blown out production style - but with hammered dulcimer in place of guitar. The fragile chimes of the dulcimer find an excellent counterpoint in the pounding, hard-hit drums and aforementioned howls, giving the album as a whole a harsh, harrowing, but strangely warm and inviting sound. Also, it's all about plants, I think?
