Walter Rizzati - Quella Villa Accanto Al Cimitero (The House by the Cemetery) OST (1981)
The other day, I read a review of City of the Living Dead on the Final Girl blog, wherein the author talks about how she tends to give Italian horror movies a pass when it comes to things like plot and whether or not they make any sense. And it occurred to me that I do the same thing, and though there are a number of factors at play, it must have at least a little to do with the fact that the films of Fulci and Argento are often accompanied by some of the greatest soundtracks in the history of horror.
Case in point: The House by the Cemetery. This movie makes absolutely no fucking sense, but there are some awesomely gruesome deaths, genuinely frightening supernatural occurrences, an ample portion of unintentional humor, and a mournful, atmospheric, piano- and synth-heavy soundtrack courtesy of Walter Rizzati. Ergo, it's dope as fuck.

ReplyDeleteThank You! You are the most beautiful human being ever made, I love this kind of stuff!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo many thanks for sharing this, my friend!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see another audiofile who is also into giallo and Italian horror cinema. I fell in love with the genre upon viewing Prufondo Russo for the first time. I watched it in the late late hours of night and finished it as the sun was coming up. Needless to say it rattled for that entire day. That's how I knew I'd found something truly amazing and worthy of my time and fandom.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of a re-up on this? Zippyshare is dead, and that is sad. Much thanks for all the super righteous records you've hipped me to.
