German raw black metal. Ugly, blown-out aural misanthropy. Generally, I'm not a huge fan of black metal bands covering other black metal bands -- unless it's live, what's the point? -- but Am Mondesschatten's cover of "Transilvanian Hunger" is another story. It's not just one of the greatest black metal songs, it's the title track from the most lo-fi major metal album in existence -- and Am Mondesschatten did it like three times as raw, and made it the first track on here. Badass.
