A breathtaking form of ambient music that incorporates elements of classical, electro, new age, and jazz, courtesy of Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen. On the surface, Chiaroscuro is beautiful and low-key, but there's a sense of restlessness and anxiety at its core.

I'm guessing you know Supersilent, Henriksen's noise/jazz/wtf combo? On the off chance you don't, consider this a high-level recommendation--not that my taste is high-level, just that Supersilent has been making next-level shit for over a decade and some of their most recent output is as pulverizing and transfixing as anything out there. Some might consider it a touch wanky, but it hits my sweet spot. Deathprod is also a member of that squad.

DeleteStart with 6, 8, and 13. 6 is widely considered their best, and 13 is a great summation of most of what they do well--and what they do well is smear, build, and fucking roar.
