Bernd Kistenmacher - Romantic Times (1986)

Drifting, cosmic synthscapes, mixed as a single continuous piece, by German musician Bernd Kistenmacher. Pretty sure I've officially run out of things to say about synth music, but it remains one of my favorite things in the world.

Track listing:
1. Atmospheric Intro
2. Wake Up in the Sun
3. Harmonic
4. Harmonic Rhythm
5. April
6. The Shadows Get Shorter
7. Summergate

  1. What are your feelings on dungeon synth? I feel like I haven't seen much of that on here yet it combines what appear to be your top two interests.

    1. I dig it. Haven't really explored a lot of the newer stuff that's come out since it's become this defined subgenre. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

    2. My favorite example of PURE dungeon synth is probably Depressive Silence.

But I also really enjoy hybrid acts like Sunsunmoon (especially the song "Past Life Spell")

Hollywood Metal has a very extensive section devoted entirely to Dungeon Synth and I find a lot of fun stuff on there too. There' almost too much!

  2. Thanks for having this site. I really appreciate your very varied musical interests. I've been lurking for some time and been grabbing an album here and there from you. I don't meet too many people who venture beyond one genre of music and that one genre is usually whatever is popular.

  3. Never even heard of this release. I know of some of Bernd releases but this one eluded me. As always your site is full of surprises and thats why I keep coming back like an audio meth head!

  4. Thank you for sharing Bernd's third cassette, even if it has been reissued in the "my little universe" box set in 1999. If you have the tapes "music from outer space" and "dancing sequences", that would be great to share... Wishing you all the best.

  5. This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there. Would you please re-up this link?

    1. When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya thanked DEAR_SPIRIT, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
