Since briefly flashing on the peripherals of the mainstream via touring and collaborating with Marilyn Manson at his commercial peak, cellist/vocalist/songwriter/genius Melora Creager has kept busy carving out her own fantastical, completely unique niche in the weirdo musical landscape. She's long since dropped the industrial signifiers, and embraced an ornately organic sound that could be likened to a beefed-up take on that of Thanks for the Ether, the project's much-loved debut. A collection of beautifully bizarre, quasi-historical stories and laments, Sister Kinderhook is IMO the crowning achievement of late-era Rasputina thus far.
