Eberhard Weber - Fluid Rustle (1979)
Previously on Opium Hum:
The Colours of Chloë (1974)
Pendulum (1993)
Another phenomenal album of ambient jazz from Eberhard Weber. There are no drums on Fluid Rustle -- just a pillowy haze of vibraphone, marimba, balalaika, guitar, and wordless female vocals, with Weber's double bass at the center. Gorgeous, haunting, and infinitely soothing.
Track listing:
1. Quiet Departure
2. Fluid Rustle
3. A Pale Smile
4. Visible Thoughts
On a white horse
Labels:
1970s,
ambient,
Bill Frisell,
Eberhard Weber,
ECM,
Gary Burton,
jazz

Some of the best album Weber & Co ever recorded. Truly works of art.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I know, I really love this one -- glad that you do, too!
Deletebtw link may be down on this one, i used to have trouble with sendspace...
DeleteYo Tim, thanks for this... you got any early Bill Frisell solo stuff in that ECM bag of yours? Titles like "In Line," "Rambler," "Smash and Scatteration"?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, no, I haven't been able to find them anywhere. I'll look again, but I seem to remember hitting a pretty solid wall with all of his early stuff.
DeleteOh, and the link works fine for me. Sendspace def sucks, I've started using Zippyshare for all my newer links.
Deletebeen looking for this album for so long, I always wanted to hear some Gary Burton along with Bill Frisell.
ReplyDeleteturns out the link is down, can you reupload it? by the way, I've found myself digging deep into this blog and I must say it's pretty awesome, keep it going! Greetings from Argentina, southbound.
Re-upping as I type this, should be ready momentarily. This is a really good one, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Quiet Departure has to be one of the best pieces of music I have listend to in the last years. – I also love his Yellow Fields album from 1975. True spiritual music. Thanks for your great blog.
