French black metal perfection. III: Violence & Variations was a watershed moment for Aosoth, in which they embraced their atmospheric, dissonant, and overall higher-minded tendencies, creating one of the great modern black metal albums in the process. And since they just released yet another 10/10, I figure now's a fine time to look back on this amazing, not-so-obscure record.
