OK I'm out of my depth here -- I know nothing about breakcore, which, I'm fairly certain, this is. So I'll just tell you what I hear: whole lotta breakbeats, whole lotta distorted, hyper-speed, gabber-style kicks, whole lotta samples, zero melodic elements. Pretty much noise music, except you can imagine really coked-up Euros dancing to it. I fucking love it. Who can recommend more stuff like this?

Are you familiar with Venetian Snares?

ReplyDeleteDuranDuranDuran or Donna Summer / Jason Forrest. Xanopticon comes to mind, too.
ReplyDelete[http://selfishfew.blogspot.ca] has some "NYC Speedcore" & "HxC techno", which seem to be related.
ReplyDeleteFound the blog when looking for rare GENOCIDE ORGAN. Guy's also got tons of Japanese/Finnish Punk. Think you'll enjoy; check it out.
Thanks again for the blog. Cheers!
Nero's Day at Disneyland - From Rotting Fantasylands
ReplyDeleteA hallmark of the genre.
Also Arkhaiomelisidonophunikheratos, by Satanicpornocultshop.
This is nice.
ReplyDeleteBesides Venetian Snares and some hardcore techno, closest I can think of is some early Alec Empire stuff (The Destroyer, Bass Terror, Squeeze the Trigger...). Not super similar, however.

I did a one off project in a similar vein, more noise than break, or using breaks and beats instead of pedal loops as noise source:

bloodclaat gangster youth, \atr/slayer - no remorse, v snares - sabbath dubs. v snares - rossz..., In the Mouth of Madness - A Metal, Crossbreed & Breakcore Mix
ReplyDeleteis, imo, a ripping mix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl5FkhdSpJM) - well worth checking out and definitely psychedelic in its effect rather than its form.

ReplyDeleteLate 90's speedbass was like this but heavier and on more drugs. DEV/NULL is good one , both "Necrobestial Sadobreaks" and "Lazer Thrash" are solid albums. Cant name any albums but Madame Chao was pretty intense. He had and crazy public access show , youtube that high please.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is awesome. You should know that.
this rules. similar to bogdan raczynski maybe
ReplyDeletestupidfag is right. Bloodyfist is where its at for this style of hardcore. Pretty much anything Mark N was involved with is amazing. Check out Rent Money Acquisition, Stuck in Stallis, or Stick your happy hardcore records up yer arse...Best Hardcore dj ever.
ReplyDeleteCoked up Euros you say? Have at it: https://breakcoregivesmewood.bandcamp.com/album/various-breakcore-gives-me-wood
ReplyDeleteYo, I'm not sure if you have ever checked out Boymerang? Kind of obsessed with their sound at the moment
ReplyDeleteNot quite so hardcore as this, but a really great drum & bass project... they only released one LP in 97' and then disappeared. really interesting spacious sound, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlBHpx_sL3o&list=PLLLnX4yGeQEgKlb292oWW-4NtNBHiFzhp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cecDOXk5hDk
now i have listened to the only track (from this album) available on youtube five times...can you reup the album because i cant get enough?
ReplyDeletethank you very much
DeleteIts Aaron. He's from Newcastle. We invented this shit. Manitoba is just sparkling unemployment. Only the weirder Germans and rich NYC people put this stuff out, and the weirder Germans were better with better Czech masterers. Bloodyfist was a thing.
ReplyDeleteThis is all amigacore / 4 track sampler stuff. So it is squeezing a lot out of 4 channels of 8 bit shit.
The ideal way to witness this was at a mixed punk / bloodfist all ages gig at a bowling club or a house party or something. Unlike other bloodyfist acts Xylocaine manages to get the deep social distortion of media around the meaningless hell of Newcastle life in the 1990s. LMG's sample, "Double murder suicide" obviously, but also all the AM radio found material.
