Creepy, tense garage-punk-blues. You know how The Cramps are great, but bands that are influenced by them usually suck? These guys are an exception to that rule.

4. Down So Low

ReplyDeleteMan, I'm so glad to discover I'm not the only one who's thought that.

I second that -- or third? Psychobilly became cartoonish, as bad as the ska revival.
DeleteI seem to remember that these guys were also the exception in that they are still fantastic 20 years later...
ReplyDeleteAren't ALL bands influenced by The Cramps? Even if they don't know it...it The Cramps world, and we just live in it.
ReplyDeleteI can hear a nod to The Cramps but I always think of The Scientists/Kim Salmon when listening to The Chrome Cranks, especially on their first album.
ReplyDeleteThey recorded a fantastic cover of Cool As Ice by Suicide that I can't seem to get enough of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXgLwn2exwo
Loving this. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHere Here! Most bands that list The Cramps as a main influence are steaming garbage in audio form. I find the same is true of bands that try to emulate The Ramones. Don't even get me started on the abysmal scourge that is "Ramonescore".
