ReplyDeleteNow an Art Pepperish jewel?
ReplyDeletenice one for the philip jeck / black faction twofer, in addition. all this 90s / noughties era electronic takes my spirits back to a time when the future was wild, new & exciting, not a dread march at a deadhearted job doing fuck all while amoral wealthy dickheads dickslap planet earth to yacht rock
ReplyDeletethe 90s were a time when i wasn't wondering what it's all for because i could HEAR it, anytime i pressed play, i could FEEL the future, at the club or on my bike, off in my headphones... which is how i manage my existential crises, these days. bicycling to good music is the only sure escape from the dickslap endtimes
Dimitri was a pillar in the experimental electronic music scene in LA for many years, not only through his own music, but also his record label Phthalo, home to Chris Douglas (O.S.T., Rook Vallard, Dalglish…), DNTEL, Terminal 11, many others.
ReplyDeleteI saw him play a few times, only recorded him once, and this was pretty early on in my live recordings venture so it doesn’t sound so impressive, but is worth a listen.

Hi. I've been a bit of a lurker of this here blog for something like...8 years? Could that be right? Anyway, i don't know if I'll check this out or not, but just wanted to say - I'm glad you're still here, Dear Spirit. Your blog has benefitted me in lots of ways. Thanks. \m/
ReplyDeleteThanks for sticking with us, we are a greed lot and I know I don't post thanks as often as I should. Referencing the previous post, I'm no metal guy, but when I feel the urge you are one of only three people I turn to for a trustworthy fix. And this album has grabbed me from the go get. Cheers!
