Debut album of stoned, dub-flavored drum n bass from this long-running English duo. SHJ first appeared on my radar about a decade and a half ago when I picked up the excellent Bombscare EP -- a collaboration with Low -- but I only got around to checking them out recently. Great stuff. Digging that vaporwave-y album art, too.

Absolutely adore these guys. While their peers were tripping over each other trying to find the umpteenth way to flip the "Amen" break, SHJ were pitch-shifting bizarre samples to extremes and getting weirder with each release (TREADER and DISAPPEARED in particular). Eventually they said "fuggit" and went full-out avant-garde jazz... anyway, stellar release here, thanks.
ReplyDeleteYeah I noticed that they're a full-on jazz band now, that's awesome
DeleteAwesome. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis blog and this album are phenomenal, but downloaders be aware: about half these tracks are 128 kbps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know, fixed
