Phenomenal black metal from parts unknown. A chill-inducing, forward-thinking masterpiece that cuts through the suffocating density that one might expect from modern black metal with a shimmering, sorrowful sense of beauty. A serious contender for BMAOTY, and it's free to download from bandcamp -- rarely does life come together so perfectly, so take advantage or perish.

ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. Extra points for the logo with no actual writing.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous. There's so much going on and it's all great.
ReplyDeleteThis cover, though...Looks like a mosque in a mysterious country in the Caucasus, Azerbaijan in the 50s maybe. Maybe this is Muslimgauze/Bryn Jones' reincarnation gone BM --PC
ReplyDeleteIt's the temple in Jerusalem, right? Jerusalem, central in William Blake's mythology which this band is ALL about.
DeleteGreat recommendation. I bought a copy from Bandcamp. Very impressive album.
ReplyDeleteI think a consensus is forming. Just batshit good. Thanks!

Awesome album from beginning to end!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, this is breathtakingly incredible. Such a majestic and epic album, I’ve heard some somewhat like it but none with quite this scale of grandeur. Thank you for another stunning suggestion.
ReplyDeleteI do have a question that I feel only someone with your descriptive abilities and musical intelligence would be able to sufficiently answer. I’ve been a huge fan of all types of metal, although I’ve encountered some genres later than others. I’ve generally operated under the opinion that the louder, more technical and more generally abrasive the music is, the better metal it ends up being. I loved hearing the louder, punchier drums. The more piercing guitar, the chunkier bass. But all of those stuck out when listening to an album. So my question is, what is it about blending insane, technical playing from all instruments together into a impenetrable, nigh indistinguishable wall of noise that makes for such a good black metal formula? Tbh, the first record I really liked with that approach was your Sedation LP, specifically White Angels, still a benchmark for the quality of most lo-fi/dsbm I choose to listen to.
Thank you for your time and all of the suggestions, please keep them coming.
