Rainer Brüninghaus - Freigeweht (1981)

Icy ECM style jazz quartet led by German pianist Rainer Brüninghaus. Interwoven pianos, synths, flugelhorn, and oboes, backed by a reliably tasteful performance by Jon Christensen. Mesmerizing.

Track listing:
1. Stufen
2. Spielraum
3. Radspuren
4. Die Flüsse Hinauf
5. Täuschung der Luft
6. Freigeweht

One goes there alone

  1. Hey you have good taste and discriminate to boot. This cd/album is a golden "ambient" jazz debut from Eberhard Webers band keyboardist. He released 2 discs on ECM and the second release Continuum is just as good tho a bit more kinetic. This is music that not only carries a level of emotion but of spontaneity and visceral genius!

  2. Amazing you now have Continuum! Wow ANYONE into ECMs golden era of groundbreaking non trad releases has to d/l these 2 gems. Wish this guy could do a few more solo albums but heck I am glad for these two! Thanks!

  3. THANK YOU so much for this and the other ECM albums. I still remember vividly the first time I heard ECM-style jazz....when I was in college...I was blown away and mystified by what I was hearing. It was unlike any jazz or jazz fusion that I had heard before. All these years later, I still love it.
