Forest of Shadows - Six Waves of Woe (2008)

Second official full-length from this Swedish melodic doom act, a solo project of Niclas Frohagen. Mostly mid-paced tempos, with lush, heavy walls of guitar and keyboard that build to massive moments of catharsis before receding to valleys of dejection. Frohagen employs an emotive, rock-like vocal approach for a great deal of the record, but when the death growls come, they hit hard. My only complaint? He still hasn't made a follow-up.
