Meatjack - Days of Fire (2003)

Darsombra - Climax Community (2012)
Raging Baltimore sludge metal. Found Meatjack through their split with Damad, but it wasn't until a few months back that I heard this, their final and best album. Heavy, darkly melodic, and oddly catchy in way that reminds me of Remission-era Mastodon, but with a more sinister, Neurosis-y vibe. Too bad about the nu metal album cover, though.

3. Cold Flight
4. Face Down
5. Days of Fire
6. Sea of Tranquility

ReplyDeleteSaw these guys (I think while they were supporting this album) at the bug jar in Rochester NY a while back. They closed their set with Crawl - such a wonderful and powerful song played live.
Rwake supported them that night. Great set for sure. Although all I can remember is an Arkansas state flag and a blue-ribbon dreadlock the size of a large baguette.
Even though it wasn't terribly long ago, I still miss those days. So many wonderful shows. Luckily, these days are fun too. B-)
