Indie rock gone drone. Caustic Resin takes the stoned, bemused mindset of 90s alt/indie and pumps it full of the heavier, darker-tinted sounds of drone, garage, psych, and noise rock. I've been on a major 90s kick for the past few months, but due to my extremely sporadic posting, this is the first y'all are hearing about it. More to come?

sounds good -- thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt's a double LP on vinyl. Awesome shit...
ReplyDeleteBoise's finest.
ReplyDelete"The Medicine Is All Gone" is an all-time great album. Saw them live once in the early oughts and Brett broke a string mid-song and then proceed to change it while not only the song continued, but he continued to play the guitar the entire time while changing and it.
ReplyDeleteI second this one. "Medicine" was my intro to Caustic Resin and is still my favorite. "Fly Me To The Moon" is like the first part of a brilliant trilogy, but the next two, "The Medicine Is All Gone" and "Trick Question" sound a lot better and bigger.
DeleteNever heard of this band before. A great album! Really not sure how they passed me by - in 1995 I should have been totally on top of this. Still better late than never. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I feel -- I only got into them a few months ago, and I was like, "how the fuck did something so obviously up my alley and not THAT obscure somehow slip under my radar for so long??"
DeleteThere's always something else, something interesting, lurking around the corner.
ReplyDeleteFor example speaking of the 1990's, I must know every mote and particle of Levitation's seminal 1993 album Need For Not, but wasn't aware until this week that a long lost 2nd Bickers led album exists on bandcamp https://levitationband.bandcamp.com/album/meanwhile-gardens. On it! Thanks again.
