Atritas - Where Witches Burnt (2004)

Swiss symphonic black metal. It's evil, it's dramatic, there are tons of fake strings, but let's be honest: if it's for you, you had a pretty good picture of what it sounds like from the first sentence (fragment.) If not, you can go back to wishing that I'd stop posting all this metal bullshit.

Track listing:
1. Evil Calling
2. The Devil's Throat
3. Black Sunday
4. Mongrel Monument
5. Thou Shalt Suffer
6. Where Witches Burnt
7. My Mortal Flesh
8. Narrow Refuge
9. I'm the Vanity
10. Last Sheep Smashed

Follow the wind, listen to his voice
The words he whispers
Let it get inside your senses
Because it is the voice of the devil
From his throat he calls his wanderers on earth

More in this ballpark:
Cirith Gorgor -
Unveiling the Essence (2001)
Abhor - I.gne N.atura
R.enovatur I.ntegra
(2001)

  1. I am not even close to being 1/1000th of the metal-head that you are, so I would like to know what you think of this band I just found out about called Deathspell Omega? I really like what I've heard so far, but I'm a stranger to black metal.

    1. Well, that's a really fucking great band you've come across. Possibly the most important modern black metal band, no exaggeration. "Si Monvmentvm Requires, Circvmspice" is def in my top 20, and everything they've released since then is better than most black metal bands could ever dream of.

    2. Thanks for the info. I think I'll dive into more of your black metal posts now so you can keep em coming (although I won't be mad if you posted more ECM and obscure electronic records either :D )

  2. Please never stop posting all this metal bullshit! I've discovered some of my new favorite doom records on this blog recently. And Deathspell Omega rules.
