John Taylor, Norma Winston, & Kenny Wheeler - Azimuth (1977)

Glorious ambient jazz from keyboardist John Taylor, trumpeter/flugelhorn-player Kenny Wheeler, and vocalist Norma Winstone. Lush, enveloping, transportive sounds. One of my top 10 favorite ECM records, for sure.

  1. Wow this is classic ECM! Innovative and accessible music but def out of the syrupy landscape of George Benson's and Spyro Gyra's! The released one in a trilogy of early releases with Ralph Towner. All three of this projects early releases are equally beautiful the later stuff doesnt apply!

  2. Amazing Album. Norma Winstone, a voice like no other... THANKS

  3. Thank you for this and the Pat Metheny. You've got to give ECM credit for being mostly about the art.

  4. ...and your top 10 ECM records are?

  5. This. Rules.

  6. really enjoyed this, thanks :)

  7. Many thanks for all the wonderful ECMs. Very enjoyably ear-opening
