Trist - Hin-fort (2007)

A masterpiece of cosmic black metal and dark ambient. The first disc is a single, impenetrable, hour-plus monolith of tremolo-picked guitars, droning synths, and relentless drum-machine blastbeats, broken up by two beautiful spoken word samples dealing with the impossible, crushing emptiness/fullness of the cosmos. This is followed by a second disc of cavernous dark ambient. I've started working on a list of my all-time favorite black metal records that will mark a certain upcoming milestone on here, and this was one of the first that popped into my head while brainstorming.

Track listing:
  Disc One
1. Hin
  Disc Two
1. (Keine) Angst
2. Unter den Wolken
3. Hilfe
4. Schlaflos
5. Licht Aus!
6. Nachtflug
7. Fort

I am the cosmos, I am part of this process that I am doing. I’m part of it. I’m molecules. My molecules are those molecules. The stars that die, that’s me.

  2. I've only listened to that first track but it's...just awesome...and beautiful.

Thanks for the Monolake, too, love that project but hadn't heard Hongkong before yesterday.
