King Sunny Ade & His African Beats - Aura (1984)

Buoyant, infectious Afrobeat that mixes organic percussion with programmed beats. Makes me long for a car full of friends that's headed for the river, the coast, or the mountains, and thankfully, what with summer almost being here, this dream's gonna be a reality real soon. Aura served as my introduction to the wonderful world of King Sunny Ade -- maybe it'll be yours, too.

Track listing:
1. Ase
2. Gboromiro
3. Ogunja
4. Oremi (feat. Tony Allen)
5. Ire
6. Iro

Synchro feelings

You'll also want to hear:
Osibisa - Osibisa (1971)
Magnum - Fully Loaded (1974)

  1. The 2 albums issued on Is;and before this one are even better. If you get a chance listen to JuJu Music. Ma Jaiye Oni has a wonderful steel guitar break about halfway through that is worth buying the album for.

  2. Syncro System Movement (1974) is meant to be up there? Do you have it by chance?

  3. Any chance you can re-up the DL link? (and maybe the William Onyeabor one too if you're feeling generous)
