Thou Shalt Suffer - Into the Woods of Belial (1991)

Lo-fi, delay- and reverb-saturated, Norwegian death metal featuring a pre-Emperor Ihsahn. Pure, esoteric, and disgusting, with keyboards and some raspy vocals that point the way to the subgenre that Ihsahn was on the verge of defining (and arguably perfecting) with In the Nightside Eclipse. Why in the fuck haven't you heard this band?

Note: This is the 1997 release of Into the Woods of Belial, which features the original demo, plus a two-song EP and a rehearsal recording.
