A near-perfect swan song from this short-lived Australian group. Elements of emo, math rock, and post-rock coalesce in a warm, strangely meditative sound powered by tasteful, angular guitar work, understated vocals, skittering drumming, and subtle, thoughtful compositions.

ReplyDeleteHey, by any chance do you have Cosmic Ecstasy by Daniel Kobialka?

DeleteI actually posted Cosmic Ecstasy years ago but Kobialka himself emailed me asking me to take it down. He also was convinced that I was affiliated with some mp3-selling site that I'd never heard of, and seemed pretty mad about it.
such an underrated, forgotten gem. albini nailed the recording, great room-sound throughout
ReplyDeletePurplene were amazing! Got to catch them play a few times around the time when this came out too. 100% one of the best live bands in the country at the time. If you like this you should check out a Melbourne band called My Disco as well.
