Midori Takada & Masahiko Satoh - Lunar Cruise (1990)

An excellent collaboration between percussionist Midori Takada and pianist/keyboardist Masahiko Satoh. Lunar Cruise is a thing of alien energy and woozy beauty, and explores a wide range of styles and moods, so you know what that means: I'm way too lazy of a writer to address it effectively here. Here, read this.

Track listing:
1. Iron Paradise
2. Nahm
3. Ancient Palace
4. A Vanished Illusion
5. Jyomuran
6. Monody
7. In 'D'
8. Madorone
9. Chang-Dra
10. Lunar Cruise

  1. I saw Midori Takada live last year and it was totally transfixing. She did everything from generating a feedback drone by circling a mic with a metal bar, to some eight-mallet-at-once marimba classical-jazz stroll, to one of the most savage hanging-drum batterings I've seen this side of Thor Harris. Phenomenal.

  2. HOLY SHIT THANK YOU. Scoured the internet for this, along with Ryuichi Sakamato's 'CM' series, to no avail.

  3. Thanks! Very interesting collaboration. I don't know what's up with tracks 7 and 8 being identical though (with different titles). What happened there?

    1. Think my iTunes was probably doing this glitchy thing it does sometimes. Just re-upped it, lemme know if it still doesn't work.
