Woven Hand - Consider the Birds (2004)

Woven Hand takes elements of mastermind David Eugene Edwards' previous group, 16 Horsepower -- the morbid Americana, Edwards' dark, fatalistic Christian spirituality -- and shoots them through a cloud of earthy, dramatic neofolk and churning psychedelia. Consider the Birds contains some of the project's finest work, including the apocalyptic, goosebump-inducing "To Make a Ring", a top 100 tune if there ever was one.

Track listing:
1. Sparrow Falls
2. Bleary Eyed Duty
3. To Make a Ring
4. Off the Cuff
5. Chest of Drawers
6. Oil on Panel
7. The Speaking Hands
8. Down in Yon Forest
9. Tin Finger
10. Into the Piano

We will weave our voice together and sing
Forever 'round the throne

More bizarre spirituality:
Sister Irene O'Connor -
Fire of God's Love / Songs to Ignite the Spirit (1973)
Perry Leopold -
Christian Lucifer (1973)

  1. A friend from work let me borrow the documentary Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus, it has David Eugene Edwards in it as well as The Handsome Family, etc.. Looking forward to watching it. Thanks for the effort you put into your blog, always look forward to see what you post.
