Icelandic black metal. Definitely a 'modern' approach -- longer, more dynamic songs; cerebral, mildly psychedelic elements; huge, pitch-black atmosphere -- but thanks to unanimously dissonant guitar work, there's nothing pretty about In Terra Profugus. Members of Misþyrming, who put out one of last year's best black metal records.
