Jim O'Rourke - Bad Timing (1997)

A gorgeous, surprisingly straightforward album of raga-like, fingerpicked acoustic guitar-based instrumentals from experimental music icon Jim O'Rourke. Fleshed out here and there by piano, organ, vibraphone, French horn, trumpet, violin, and pedal steel.

Track listing:
1. There's Hell in Hello, But More in Goodbye
2. 94 the Long Way
3. Bad Timing
4. Happy Trails

They brought me here cause I can't take care

More along these lines:
Robbie Basho -
Venus in Cancer (1970)
Jack Rose -
Opium Musick (2003)

  1. Ahh what a great album this is. O'rourke was an excellent songwriter once upon a time.

  3. "Bad Timing" is the title of a film directed by Nicolas Roeg. Jim O'Rouke has used some of the films of this filmmaker for his records: "Insignificance", "Eureka", etc. The four songs of "Bad Timing" are lovely.

    1. I do. I think it's great. One long, constantly shifting, exceedingly pleasant-sounding piece.

    3. I honestly have heard <10% of his discography. Of those, my favorite is probably Disengage, which is just pure drone. I'll put a link here, but I'm probably gonna end up doing an actual post on it. His albums on the Extreme label are also excellent.
