Dødheimsgard - Kronet Til Konge (1995)

90s Norwegian black metal. Pure and true -- nothing but tremolo picking, busy drumming, hoarse, reverb-soaked howls, and Satanic blasphemy.

Track listing:
1. Intro
2. Å slakte Gud
3. En krig å seire
4. Jesu blod
5. Midnattskogens sorte kjerne
6. Kuldeblest over evig isøde
7. Kronet til konge
8. Mournful, Yet and Forever
9. Når vi har dolket Guds hjerte
10. Starcave, Depths and Chained
11. When Heavens End
12. Outro

For us, sounds of lovely pain

    1. At various times, I've called ...His Majesty (Svartsyn), Verwüstung / Invoke the Dark Age (Abigor), and In the Nightside Eclipse (Emperor) my favorite black metal album, so that's probably my top 3. Outside of those, some other favorites are:
      Hate Forest - Purity
      Paysage d'Hiver - s/t
Havohej - Dethrone the Son of God
      Obtained Enslavement - Witchcraft
Malvery - Mortal Entrenchment in Requiem
      Elysian Blaze - Blood Geometry
      Kataxu - Hunger of Elements
      Sortsind - More Days
Diabolical Masquerade - Ravendusk in My Heart
      Schammasch - Triangle
I've posted a lot of them, so search away.

  2. Okay, thanks for the info. So much there it's hard to find a starting point, if there is any really. I generally prefer jazz, classical, new age, electronic and stuff that tips into the avant garde: Terry Riley, free jazz, etc., but open to the unknown. Here's a new female avant prog/ drone/dark I found recently: Anna Von Hausswolff. I enjoy it. https://youtu.be/1x11nd1Ft-4

    1. If you're into experimental stuff, newer black metal would probably be more up your alley. Some recommendations:
      Imperial Triumphant - Vile Luxury
      Akhlys - The Dreaming I
Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
      Chaos Moon - Eschaton Mémoire
Botanist - Collective: The Shape of He to Come
