Julian Lynch - Mare (2010)
Loose, psychedelic indie folk rock from New Jersey, of all places. Acoustic and electric guitars, hazy synths, stoned-sounding vocals, minimal percussion, and a warm, homemade sounding recording. It's a great record front-to-back, but for me all of the highlights are on the second half of the album, including the fingerpicking and pristine vocal harmonies of "Still Racing", and the subtle tension, complete with saxophone solo, of "Ruth, My Sister".
