Omit - Repose (2011)

Powerful Norwegian atmospheric funeral doom. Lushly layered strings, piano, flute, all types of guitars, and crawling, minimal drumming, topped off by vocalist Cecilie Langlie's angelic, downcast singing. Repose strikes a perfect balance of beauty and heaviness, and is a must-hear for any funeral doom fan.

Track listing:
-Disc One-
1. Scars
2. Fatigue
3. Dissolve
-Disc Two-
1. Constriction
2. Insolence

Enter partially devoured
Carelessly divided
Shelter all the shadows altered
Got there last to serve the dark

More gorgeous funeral doom with lady singers:
Funeral -
Tragedies (1995)
Lethian Dreams -
Season of Raven Words (2012)

  1. Damn, this is really fine stuff! I was initially excited by the prospect of an album by the New Zealand electronic/experimental/weirdo project of the same name. If you're not familiar with them (or him? It may be just one guy), I think they might very well appeal to some part of this blog's Venn diagram of enthusiasts. Thanks again, Dear Spirit, for constantly having some weird surprise to get me through the day!

  5. Thanks again for link. Keep coming back to this record for some reason. Very appealing. You listen to Thergothon or Skepticism, considered pioneers in this genre?

  6. Hey, any chance you could upload any more of Omit's albums? One of the better doom metal bands going right now imo. Thanks!

    1. I'm kinda blanking right now, was gonna recommend early Funeral and Lethian Dreams but they're already in the recommended listening above. Maybe explore the doom tag:
